In September/October, members of our Friendship Centre family have made their own unique verbal submissions to the Select Standing Committee on Finance, outlining the need for an Off-Reserve Aboriginal Strategy that includes Friendship Centres.

In early October, we were very pleased to hear that of your hard work and dedication to our lobby and civic engagement campaign is finally paying off. On October 3rd, 2011, the BC Legislature, the Honourable Steven Point, our Lieutenant Governor, read his Speech from the Throne (which typically announces the government priorities for the next year) and quoted some of the words that many of you have been voicing for so long.
