Aboriginal Gaming Grants Support Program

The Aboriginal Gaming Grants Support Program was established to increase Aboriginal access to community gaming grants programs provided by the Province of BC.

The Aboriginal Gaming Grants Support Program provides resources and services to member Friendship Centres and Aboriginal not-for-profit organizations across the province. Services include:

• Outreach

1. Regional and sector presentations on grant programs and gaming event licensing regimes
2. One-on-one exploratory meetings to determine eligibility

• Support:

1. Proposal pre-screening support prior to submitting grant/license application(s)
2. Information and tips to help groups prepare their grant/license application
3. Reconsideration support (for those who did not receive funds and are seeking clarification)
4. Gaming event licensing development/application

• Compliance:

1. Gaming grant and license reporting (information and support provided to organizations to report responsibly on funds received and revenue earned)
2. Audit compliance (information and support when needed)

The community gaming grants program is managed by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and include:

• Direct Access Fund Program
• Major Capital Project Program
• Bingo Affiliation Grant Program

Important intake period dates

The Direct Access Fund Program has different funding categories, which each category having a distinct intake period as follows:

Arts, Culture and Sport
Intake Period: February 1 - May 31

District Parent Advisory Councils and Parent Advisory Councils
Intake Period: April 1 - June 30

Public Safety
Intake Period: July 1 - August 31

Environment
Intake Period: July 1 - August 31

Human and Social Services
Intake Period: August 1 - November 30

Annual intake period for the Major Capital Project Grant Program runs from October 1 - November 30.

Once received, applications are assessed within a 12 week time frame rather than held and assessed as with other funding and grant programs.
